THE GREG AUSTIN BAND
The Greg Austin Band
The Glory Days Of The Greg Austin Band. What I still call my 15 Minutes of Fame. So proud to have been a part of Kentucky Music History with The GAB. This band was bigger than life, packed houses everywhere we played and a very large fan base across the country. I was part of four albums with this great band and was blessed to have produced three of those four records. The Greg Austin Band played everywhere and with everybody who was anybody in those days. If there was a big name country act coming to town The GAB always played the show with them. From crowds of 50 to 75,000. But one of my BEST memories of all was playing the famous Lone Star Cafe in Manhattan as an opening act and as a headliner. And hanging out with and sharing that historic stage with every name in the business. I remember one night at The Lone Star when John Belushi came and sat in on drums, James Taylor at the top of the stairs watching the bands, Kinky Friedman backstage with us and co-headlining with Commander Cody till 5am the next morning. Man...those were the days...
